Oct 12 @ 11:00 - 16:00Free
Since 2018, Alliance Française of Johannesburg has decided to focus on eco-friendly food practices and on the strong social power of food and cooking by organizing its now famous Disco-Soupe.
This year, our culinary guide is Chef Joey Atchama (Joey Cuisinier) from Reunion Island who will show us some his magic.
Thanks to our partners NOSH Food Rescue NPC, we want to fill bellies, instead of bins! And rather do it with some disco music on the background!
You want to cook with us? Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Bring your food and tools and let’s have fun together !
PROGRAM OF THE DAY
11:00 > 15:00: DISCO SOUPE time!
DJ’s will be playing from 11:00 to 16:00
WHAT IS A DISCO SOUPE?
Disco Soupe is also known as Schnippeldisko, is a ‘protest soup’ against food. In France the movement was created in Paris in 2012 and works to raise public awareness of the problem of food waste.
Disco Soups are collective and open cooking sessions of scraped or unsold fruit and vegetables in a musical and festive atmosphere. The meals thus made are then redistributed to all participants for free. The Disco Soups allow the education to a healthy and tasty cooking, the the pleasure of cooking together, zones of conviviality in the public space, and, the sensitization of the most large number to food waste. Today, one third of the food produced for our consumption is wasted. Saving 25% of this, would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people in the world. We all care about this big problem and we want to change this.
