On top of being a language centre, Alliance Francaise Johannesburg is a cultural organisation aimed at bringing people together and emphasizing diversity. We present art exhibitions at the esteemed Gerard Sekoto Gallery located at our premises, host concerts and hold events with the intention of strengthening the bonds between Johannesburg and the rest of the world.
With 86 events and more than 16000 spectators in 2018, the Alliance Française is one of the most active cultural center of the country.
There are no upcoming events at this time.
On the 5th of June 2021, we had an awesome Discosoupe in partnership with NOSH Food Rescue and the Soweto Chefs Academy. With the help from the chefs we were able to make a meal with the bread, fruits and vegetables that could have been thrown away while other households experience poverty. After spending the day preparing the meal we were able to share the food with the homeless who reside at Zoo lake.
With a beautiful, sunny garden set in the leafy suburb of Parkview, ours is the perfect setting for afternoon events. This year, we introduce a new monthly offering to the public: Garden Concerts.
These events will take place once a month, and will include performances by up-and-coming South African artists. The concerts are intended to invite a new audience to discover the Alliance in a different way. The experience promises to afford a friendly atmosphere and plenty of fun in the Johannesburg sun.
Each month will be dedicated to a different genre, highlighting the diversity we aim to promote at our centre.
