“Les Misérables” from Ladj Ly


LES MISÉRABLES, the official French submission for the 92nd Academy Awards received the coveted Academy Award nomination for Best International Feature Film it was announced in Los Angeles earlier today.  The film which was acquired for distribution in South Africa by Videovision Entertainment, is the debut feature film by director Ladj Ly who co-wrote the screenplay with Giordano Gederlini and Alexis Manenti.  It is produced by Toufik Ayadi, Christophe Barall and stars Damien Bonnard, Djibril Zonga, Alexis Manenti and Almamy Kanouté.

Reading in Digital / Machine à lire

The Reading in Digital exhibition displays new forms of literary creations through apps on tablets, computers, and illustrated books.

Digital literary creations have been booming, in recent years, showing an unprecedented creative dynamism. Authors, editors, producers and designers are today seizing the latest technology and using it to produce works of a new genre. After traveling around the world to countries including Germany, China, Korea and Guinea, this exhibition of French apps illustrating new reading experiences, is stopping in Johannesburg, at the Francophone Multimedia Library Dibuka.

Call for application 2019 – Artist residency Cité Internationale des Arts

The Institut Français in collaboration with the French Institute in South Africa (IFAS) is launching its 2020 call for applications for the residency programme to be held at the Cité Internationale des arts in Paris. This programme is intended for artists wishing to develop a research and creation project in Paris, for a period of three or six months.
